How Grounding Techniques Work
When suffering from panic attacks, what is happening is is that the prefrontal cortex, a part of the mind, has been disengaged from the rest of the mind. The person is not able to feel, this is why it hurts so much.
Grounding techniques, they engage this part of the mind. Then the person is able to feel. When they are able to feel, the brain is not engaging w emotional pain, and painful thoughts. It literally disengages the emotional pain. The mind can’t feel both at once.
There are two ways to feel. There are two pathways in the brain. Feeling either flows from one or the other.
One is emotional pain. It comes from the pathway of the thinking mind. The constant agony, over worrying about things, being so terrified about things; panic.
The other pathway, has the ability to shut down this first pathway. It is the pathway of silence, and feeling. This is where feelings of happiness come from.
The reason the person can’t feel happiness, is bc the panic pathway, completely shuts down feeling pleasant or happy.
Likewise, the happiness pathway shuts down the emotional pain coming the other way. So pain is reduced, and feeling okay returns.
The feeling pathway, is without the chatter of the mind. It is silent. The kinda feelings are sensations; the feelings of a soft blanket, the pleasant feeling of rain on a window, etc. They are things you feel, not things you think. What Are Grounding Techniques
Grounding techniques are exercises that people can do, to shut down the panic, and emotional pain, part of the mind, and open, the part that, feels physical sensations, and feeling pleasant inside. This is how to come down from a high panic attack.

I had my therapy sessions once a week. I w in agony. The panic w totally out of control. After three therapy sessions, the agony had stopped.
I w no longer needing to ring the Samaritans, so that I could hold on. This w totally gone.
